One of our favorite holidays is right around the corner! November 10th is National Vanilla Cupcake Day!
While some may turn their noses up at this “plain Jane” flavor, we’re ready to dance in the streets and rejoice! Vanilla cupcakes are a tried-and-true classic that is beloved by those with a sweet tooth, young and old.
The Vanilla Bean
Did you know that the Aztecs are to thank for this delightful treat? In the 15th century, the Totonac people were the first to cultivate the vanilla bean. Without their innovative nature, we would never be able to take part in sharing this light, fluffy, miniature cake.
Birth of the cupcake
In 1776 was the birth of the cupcake. The cake batter was poured into small cups, hence the name! Then, in 1919 Hostess created the first-ever snack cake, the Hostess Cupcake that we still know and love today.
As we all fell in love with cupcakes, we started experimenting with toppings like frosting, sprinkles, chocolate drizzles, and more.
How to celebrate on November 10
If you want to spend the whole day celebrating, try making your very own vanilla cupcakes. Host a decorating contest with your favorite sweet-lovers to see who can snazz up the simple classic the best.
We also love using our love of baking to help out local schools, animal shelters, or any other foundation in need by hosting bake sales! This is a great way to bring your community together while divulging in a fabulous dessert.
